FLORA BOH + COVID-19

The untimeliness of the pandemic arriving just as our 2020 wedding season began was a wholly encompassing, mind-numbing experience. First, we watched our flower friends on the West Coast abruptly halt all orders and operations. Then the international supply chain closed before ourselves here on the opposite coast we forced to follow suit. Our hearts sank along with every bride and groom as weddings were postponed and our events calendar become a blank space. The future itself became a blank space of unknown variables.

And then we were given the gift of time, of solitude and silence, and rather than looking outward our focus became internal. It was beautiful to watch our flower community innovate and create during a difficult time. One of our favorite COVID creations came from Tran Huynh Nhat Tan, a florist in Vietnam who created fresh floral face masks during his time in lockdown.

So what can you expect from Flora Boh should your event take place during a pandemic?

We pledge to use best practices when creating and delivering your flowers. Our staff will be scheduled minimally to maintain physical distance in the studio. Gloves and masks will be worn at all times.

We pledge to support our local flower farms.

On the day of your event we will arrive in good health with appropriate protective gear. All containers will be sanitized upon delivery without compromising the freshness of the flowers. Upon retrieval we will wait for the departure of your guests, as always, before clearing our rental items.

Should your event be postponed and we are not able to accommodate the date we will help you find a suitable replacement florist who share our values, quality, skills, and design sense.

We pledge to support you and collaborate to find the best solutions to unique needs that may arise with patience and grace.

We are in this for the long game and what a time it is to be alive.

Sharing the delightful news that our first event at Chateau Bu-De has been featured on My Eastern Shore Wedding. It was a lovely celebration in May overlooking the Bohemia River in quaint Chesapeake City, an absolute picturesque scene. After a stunning ceremony down by the river, guests shared an intimate dinner at the height of the property with sweeping views.

We foraged for local blooms, sourced the freshest purple lilac, and created a Spring color palette of purple, ivory, blush, beige, and earthy, wood tones. The bride thought of every detail and included special touches throughout the evening that made each moment unforgettable. Wedding Equinox

Our first bridal bouquet of the year was for this modern, fairy-like bride we referred to as 'Laurel in London' who found us from across the pond by way of fate and miracles. Her stunning look was set off by the most gorgeous emerald earrings and ring. She asked for modern, earthy vibes and with no idea about her bridal look, we created this emerald green, mossy centerpiece for a sweet, intimate wedding ceremony and reception at the St. Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C.

Her bouquet is also jewel-toned with ruby and amethyst-hued anemones paired with lush greenery and a soft grey-green succulent to accent. The groom also wore a succulent boutonnière to complement her flowers ~ isn't that tidy?
