Wedding Equinox

Our first bridal bouquet of the year was for this modern, fairy-like bride we referred to as 'Laurel in London' who found us from across the pond by way of fate and miracles. Her stunning look was set off by the most gorgeous emerald earrings and ring. She asked for modern, earthy vibes and with no idea about her bridal look, we created this emerald green, mossy centerpiece for a sweet, intimate wedding ceremony and reception at the St. Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C.

Her bouquet is also jewel-toned with ruby and amethyst-hued anemones paired with lush greenery and a soft grey-green succulent to accent. The groom also wore a succulent boutonnière to complement her flowers ~ isn't that tidy?

Favorite moment

Last weekend marked the end of our 2017 wedding calendar. We are done with weddings until the Spring and how we'll miss this work! It's hard to believe how many flowers, hours, and miles that have accumulated this year but looking back, it's so wonderful to see how far we've come. This isn't an easy journey, doing flowers because there are no guarantees when it comes to Mother Nature. We're so grateful for our brides for putting their faith in us and trusting us with their visions. And in the spirit of nostalgia and thankfulness, are sharing a photo of owner, Lydia with a favorite bride and bouquet delivery.

From Lydia:

"This photo is extra special to me because it captures one of my favorite duties as florist ~ delivering the bridal bouquet. Almost always during hair and makeup! I present a bride a bouquet to make sure it's picture perfect and matches her vision before heading off to set-up the ceremony. It's our final moment before she is married, on a day that has been planned and discussed for months and months. A surreal feeling when it actually happens.

This bride came to me at the last minute and we worked out a specific vision quickly, with no time to waste! We first met 3 weeks prior to the wedding day and because of their busy work schedule had limited time to communicate. I felt confident that I understood her vision and when we realized I had pulled it off we both got teary-eyed. Such a special moment I will cherish and how sweet of Erin Krespan to capture it on camera!"

How sweet is that? Already we are looking forward to more magic in 2018 and are booking all weddings now! Be sure to secure the date with us by March 1st for Spring/Summer and June 1st for Fall/Winter weddings as certain dates will be unavailable. Destination events should be secured no less than six months in advance.

Call 443-480-6119 or email info@floraboh.com to schedule your consultation. Looking forward to delivering more flower dreams and smiles in the year ahead.

Sea Glass Hues for an Outdoor Wedding on the Chesapeake Bay

A hot day in Mid-July seems a fitting time to share this sea glass inspired color palette from a recent wedding. We used light blue delphinium for a touch of whimsy in traditional bouquets and centerpieces with ivory roses, peonies, ranunculus, eucalyptus, dusty miller and queen anne's lace. It's fun to know that this chic, elegant evening was followed by a weekend of brunching, lawn games, family time on the beach, and cocktails served from a custom, mobile tiki bar! It was a perfect weekend on the Eastern Shore.

Wishing everyone many sun-filled, beach days of summer ahead!
